Today in honor of Labor Day (and my day off) I made scones. A scrumdiddlyumptious cherry scone with flaky coconut on top from Hebrews Coffee inspired me.

First off, I went to the Bistro and got some flour, butter, cream cheese, heavy cream, and dried fruit. I chose dried blueberries and cranberries because it's what they had (and cheapest). I wanted apricots but apparently those are only available in California this time of year :-D.

I followed this recipe at: http://www.recipesecrets.net/forums/recipe-exchange/24559-requested-cream-cheese-scones.html. They turned out very well, but the recipe said 1/4 cup cream, which was really not enough cream. I had to add about 1 cup before the dough formed right. The cream cheese made them just rich enough, and the heavy cream made them light and flaky. YUM!

I had more flour so I made some that I watched Giada make on tv. Her recipe is simple, and I love the strawberry jam filling on top! Here is the recipe if any of you are interested!

I skipped the rosemary because I couldn't find any at the Bistro, and because I really don't have any of that hanging out in my cupboard.

Everything will look much better later when I add pictures... but I can't find my cord (thanks to my still messy house)! Ah, oh well.

Until next time food lovers! I will make something scrumdiddlyumptious soon!!
